It’s an Honor Just to be Here

I wake up before my alarm clock just a touch past 7am on this Sunday morning. The September sun shining through my window.

I head over to the kitchen for a glass of water. I remembered that I air dried my laundry overnight. I fold them and put them away. I love cleaning and maintaining my clothes. I take good care of them and they take good care of me.

I head to the washroom to get ready. I like how my hair looks down today so I don’t style it with any product.

I check the weather, it’ll be mostly sunny with a high of 29 degrees (That’s Celsius by the way, I’m still getting used to Fahrenheit). I wear my favourite t-shirt, a comfortable pair of fatigue pants, and my chunky dad sneakers. I wear a neckerchief today to add some color to my fit.

I walk over to my favourite coffee shop just as they open and I’m caressed by the sweet smell of fresh coffee beans. I’m the first one there. The barista taking my order is wearing the coolest bucket hat, I had to compliment him. I grab a seat, I take out my gold plated pen that was gifted to me at the end of a past internship 5 years ago and my moleskin notebook. I don’t put my AirPods in because I’m enjoying the tranquility of the coffee shop and the Bossa Nova playlist.

I start writing and the first line I write is that it’s an honor just to be here.
