AI Makes Content Go to Zero
Inspired by Evan Armstrong’s piece on this topic
Yesterday, my friend Jorge showed me a few demos of AI projects he’s working on. He showed me this AI generated finance teacher that creates a realistic talking head that gives you a lecture and can answer any questions on personal finance. Similarly, my friend Dmitri showed me this 24/7 Twitch channel thats streams original AI generated episodes of Seinfield complete with dialogue and animation. When they showed me these projects, I felt like I caught a glimpse of what the future will look like.
In the past, if you had a book, movie, or product. You had to find physical distribution channels to sell your work. The internet drove distribution costs to zero. Where now you can write a book and publish it online, make a movie and upload it on YouTube, and create a piece of software on the internet. The internet was this technological inflection point that changed culture and society.
Now we’re in the midst of another technological inflection point spearheaded by AI. Before you’d need a team of engineers to create an app. AI will make it so that one engineer with AI enabled tools can be as effective as a team of 10 engineers. Really any job in which you touch a keyboard such as copywriting, customer support, or marketing, will be greatly enhanced by AI.
