Appreciation without Possession
If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. - Osho
Our culture is obsessed with owning things as consumer culture influences us to believe that buying more will make us happy.
However, it is possible to appreciate something without owning it. You can window shopping without the intent to purchase. You can admire someone without the need to date them.
The key to appreciation without possession is being grateful for what you already have. Recognize that you are content with all you have and know that acquiring something more will not bring greater fulfillment.
