While watching the NBA finals I couldn’t help but notice the unique colours, graffiti-esque font, and crown motif of the Brooklyn Nets homecourt. A homage to Brooklyn-born street artist Jean Michel Basquiat.
Basquiat is one of the most prominent american artists and the first black artist to break through the main stream. Now, his work is on T-shirts, referenced in hip hop, and on the Brooklyn Nets basketball court.
