Coming Alive Over Getting Ahead
In Paul Millerd’s book, The Pathless Path, he writes about one of his personal principles in creating his own path rather than pursuing the default one: coming alive over getting ahead.
Previously, Millerd attended an elite institution at MIT and worked at Mckinsey as a consultant. In short, achieving the pinnacle of success in a cutthroat environment. But quickly he got pulled into the default path: career advancement, promotions, and making more money. It was all about getting ahead.
But eventually he burned out, quit his job, and experienced the freedom and beauty of opening himself up to creating, non-doing, and connecting with others. Now, it was about coming alive.
