Ego Death
became dead-set on prestigious consulting as my first job out of college. made it to the final round with all of the top firms, got rejected by all of them.

experienced ego death. realized I was playing someone else’s game. slowly but surely, started playing my own game.
Yesterday, I saw this tweet that I strongly resonated with.
Earlier in university, I was focused on landing prestigious opportunities: big tech internships, fellowships, etc. After getting rejected, I experienced ego death, and I realized I was playing someone else’s game. I was chasing goals to impress people, not for my own sake. Getting rejected freed me from a game I didn’t even realize I was playing.
Instead, I defined success on my own terms and started playing my own game.
