Embrace the Long Game

More than three years ago, I made the decision to commit to writing, a commitment I’ve honored every day since. Writing every day has been the best decision I’ve ever made. I met one of my best friends through writing, got my current job through writing, and owe many of my ideas and insights to writing.

During my solo journey to South America, my goal was to travel slow and explore a few countries thoroughly. As a result, I developed a strong appreciation and understanding for Colombian and Peruvian culture and history.

After I moved to New York, I built a writing community and got involved with a creative community. Many of my New York friends now come from these two groups.

I don’t think I’m an exceptional learner, but my superpower is my ability to commit. Allowing myself to have options may seem attractive, but commitment is where I’ve found the most success.

There’s no right decision, the right decision is the one you commit to.
