Fashion and Masculinity

The dominant concepts of masculinity instruct that men should not be too aware of what they wear. The suit provides the answer to this modern dictate on the seriousness of masculinity; it is uniform that can be worn every day and alos men to look good without having to consider their outfits too much and therefore becoming feminine. - Toby Slader

For most of history, fashion was associated with feminity and it was thought that a man should not care too much about how they dress.

Streetwear was the first trend that gave men permission to care about how they dress and to express themselves through clothing.

Times have changed and it’s socially acceptable, at least in Western culture, to be fashion forward as a man.
