New Orleans After Katrina

First thought that comes to mind when I think of New Orleans is Hurricane Katrina. I remember hearing the news back in grade school. But now that I’m visiting the city I can only imagine the horrors.

Thousands of people died. People’s homes destroyed. Dead bodies, sewage, alligators, and snakes in the flooded waters. Nursing homes, hospitals, and prisons abandoned with people inside. Evacuees spending days in the Superdome football stadium with no electricity, water, or food.

All levels of government failed the people of New Orleans during Katrina. Ironic, given the prosperity of the US.
