Shosin

When a beginner tackles a subject:

They are open.

They are eagar.

They lack preconceptions.

But often, when that beginner transitions into an expert:

Openness turns into ego.

Eagerness turns into indifference.

Preconceptions turn into bias.

What if an expert leveraged their skills and experience but remained open, eagar, and free of preconceptions even at their advanced level?

This is the meaning of the japanese word, Shoshin, or beginner’s mind.
