The Fall of the Resume

Resumes are a remnant of a previous era, the industrial revolution.

Before, factories needed workers on the assembly line. You were meant to be compliant, you did the same monotonous work, and to be unique was dangerous.

This mindset was carried over into the office. We see this with the resume. It’s the same cookie cutter template filled with keywords and credentials.

Don’t show me your resume, show me the work you’ve done.

Show me your writing. Show me your portfolio. Show me that project you built.

I want to see results and to me this is a much better indicator of your capacility.
