The Hemingway Test

Brevity and clarity are two important components when writing essays. Essays are meant to communicate an idea or persuade the reader of your perspective. If your essay lacks brevity and clarity then it’ll be more difficult for readers to follow along and your piece is less persuasive.

A tool I use when working on long form essays is the Hemingway app. The Hemingway app is an editor that highlights and corrects grammar, fluency, and sentence structure in order to help your writing read and look better. I used it extensively in the past essays I’ve written and found it to be quite useful.
