4’33″

4’33″ is the name of John Cage’s infamous piece that’s one part experiment, another part performance art. The score instructs performers to not play their instruments for the piece’s four minute thirty three second duration. However, the piece is not “silent”, Cage believed that music is ever-present and the music is the sound of the ambient noise of the environment it’s performed in.
