Behind the Scenes

Recently, I’ve been watching Our Planet narrated by the great David Attenborough on YouTube. The shots are mesmerizing and I can’t help but wonder how exactly these shots were captured.

A quick YouTube search shows a behind the scenes look of wildlife filmmakers for the BBCs Natural History division at work. The different teams have to battle the elements, deal with large spiders and snakes, and endure broken vehicles and equipment all to provide just a few minutes of footage.

Getting a behind the scenes view, especially seeing creative masters at work is a guilty pleasure of mine. Perhaps this is why memoirs and biographies are one of my favourite book genres. While the experts of any craft make it look easy, a peak behind the scenes shows just how much work creating a masterpiece takes.
