Clothing Maintenance

Earlier this year, I bought a black merino wool long sleeve polo sweater from this vintage shop near my house. The sleeve length ended at my wrist, it hugged my chest, and it ended just past my waist. The fit was perfect. I loved wearing that sweater.

Then one busy Sunday, I was rushing through my chores and quickly sorted my laundry. I forgot to wash separate my merino wool sweater because the care instructions specified that it was hand wash only. When I took it out of the wash, the sweater shrunk a full size.

Something I learned during my fashion journey is one of the downsides to high quality clothing is they need maintenance. Many of them are dry clean only or hand wash only. And while I don’t mind handwashing some of my clothes, I may get to a point later in my life where I just don’t have the time.
