Creative Habits

Right now, I have a demanding job that I enjoy and want to excel at, so I’m willing to invest the time and effort to do well. That’s my first priority.

But even though my job requires a lot of time and energy, I still make space to write every day, publish my weekly menswear newsletter, and host weekly writing events.

At this point, my creative hobbies are habits—I don’t have to think about them; they’re automatic. And because they’re habits, I have momentum. When work eventually slows down, I’ll be ready to double down on my creative projects and take them to the next level.

My advice for anyone with a demanding job: build a creative habit. Start small, keep the momentum, and ask a friend to hold you accountable.
