Getting Rejected After Giving it Your All

My friend Kaila recently shared a post where she said one of her biggest fears is giving something your all and still getting rejected—whether it’s a project, a job, or a potential partner.

If I meet someone at a party, ask them out, and they say they’re not interested, it’s easy to brush it off. They don’t really know me, so I can remind myself not to take it personally.

But what if someone does get to know you? Your passions, personality, dreams, ambitions, your home, your friends—the whole picture—and they still reject you? That kind of rejection cuts deep. I would know. It happened to me earlier this year. It’s almost as if they’re saying, Even your best isn’t good enough.”

Logically, I know that’s not true. But emotionally? That’s how it feels.

Still, as painful as it is, those moments have a way of pushing you the hardest—and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
