High Hanging Fruit

In 2014, LeBron James had to decide whether to stay with the Miami Heat or go to another team. During his time in Miami, he won 2 championships and 2 MVPs alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. With his teammates re-signing, he had the chance to win more championships and create a dynasty.

He decided to return to Cleveland and fulfill his promise of bringing a championship to his hometown. The Cavs had a 33-49 record the previous season, but he was determined to lead the team to the finals. Lebron opted for the hard road.

Two years later, LeBron fulfilled his promise by coming back from a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors to win the 2016 NBA Championship.

Much emphasis is placed on picking low-hanging fruit. There is value in aiming for high-hanging fruit. Although more challenging to attain, the extra effort makes it more rewarding. In Lebron’s case, he had the opportunity to win numerous championships with the Miami Heat. Instead, he took the hard road and won a championship in Cleveland. Although he didn’t cry when winning his first two championships with the Heat, he fell to the floor sobbing after this victory.
