Inspiration is Temporary
One of the first books I read when I was interested in writing was Stephen King’s memoir, On Writing.
After completing a chapter of the book I’d become inspired to do some writing on my own. That inspiration spurred me to action but I couldn’t sustain that motivation until I read the book again.
When committing to anything for the long haul, whether that be building a business, training to become a body builder, or writing everyday, what matters is intrinsic motivation.
I’m able to write everyday because I’m intrinsically motivated to do so. Even if no one reads my work I write for myself, and I get so much out of it.
Inspiration isn’t a bad thing at all, I like to leverage inspiration to get me started, but it is only temporary after all.
