Make Space for Serendipity
Two Fridays ago, I had a company wellness day off.
My original plan was simple: write at a café in the morning, then spend the rest of the day wandering around the Met.
That same day, a friend of mine was hosting a café pop-up. I debated whether to go there or stick with a quieter spot nearby. I knew I wouldn’t get much writing done at the pop-up—but I decided to go anyway.
I’m glad I did.
I reconnected with my friend Neel, who was running the event. I chatted with a few people, got a girl’s number. And I caught up with my friend Edmund, who encouraged me to try Instagram Reels for my menswear content.
None of this was planned—and that’s the magic of serendipity.
When you leave space for the unexpected, you never know what might happen. You might stumble into a new opportunity. You might just hear one small piece of advice that ends up changing everything. Or you might meet someone special.
