Nakama

As crazy as it sounds, I would not be who I am today if I wasn’t for One Piece. One Piece changed my life.

I first watched the series at the tail end of middle school. And for the past decade, I’ve watched the new weekly episodes every Saturday evening.

The list of lessons I learned from One Piece is a long one, one of the major ones being Nakama. Nakama, a japanese word for friend, is a major recurring theme in the show.

Arguably, no scene captures that better than this one. Luffy, the Captain of the Strawhat Pirates declares war on the world government to save his crew member, Robin.

Multiple times throughout the series, Luffy and the other strawhat pirate crewmates would put everything on the line for the sake of their Nakama.

One Piece taught me the importance of Nakama and how to be a good one.
