Regaining Momentum

An object at rest remains at rest, and an object in motion remains in motion at constant speed and in a straight line unless acted on by an unbalanced force. - Newton’s First Law of Motion

One of my main reasons for writing everyday is momentum. Writing is important to me and if I stop I know it’ll be difficult to regain my momentum. I’ll just end up writing less.

I’m currently feeling this with the full time job search. Right now, I’m supposed to be looking for a job after I graduate. I recently went through a recruiting cycle at the beginning of the Summer to secure my Fall Internship. Then, I had external deadlines imposed by my school. Many of my classmates and friends were also looking for jobs at the time so there was some social accountability too.

Right now, there isn’t that sense of urgency; I’m an object at rest. I’m starting to gain momentum by finding peers with similar goals and collecting small wins like applying to jobs and mock interviews. I know the motivation will come once I land that first interview. The key then is to not lose momentum until I accomplish my goal.
