Respecting the OGs
In every field, there are the pioneers and living legends who set the foundation. When I was into breakdancing in the late 2000s and early 2010s, the Korean Bboy Hong 10 was considered one of the best. He won and dominated the most prestigious breakdancing competitions at the time. I retired from breakdancing a long time ago, but I still appreciate the art form.
In preparation for the debut of breakdancing at the Olympics, I was watching last years final of Red Bull BC One, the biggest competition in breakdancing, featuring Hong 10 and Phil Wizard. Hong 10 has won two Red Bull BC One titles in 2006 and 2013 and he won his third title in 2023 at 39 years old. He’s still competing at the highest level all these years later.
During the battle, I noticed Phil Wizard, showing great respect for his opponent Hong 10. It was clear that Phil Wizard, a 27-year-old competitor, had long admired the 39-year-old Hong 10, who is still among the best in the game. When Hong 10 emerged victorious, the two embraced, and Phil Wizard appeared genuinely happy for Hong 10.
