The Hockey Sweater

Today, I went through my old wallet and came across an old five dollar Canadian bill. On the back, there’s a passage from Roch Carrier’s classic children’s book, The Hockey Sweater.

The winters of my childhood were long, long seasons. We lived in three places — the school, the church and the skating rink — but our real life was on the skating rink.

I always loved this quote. It reminds me of how I used to love winter as a kid. The snowmen, the hot chocolate, wearing snowpants and making snow angels.

Maybe on the next snowday I’ll go outside and make a snowman, drink hot chocolate, and wear some adult snowpants and make snow angels.

Just like I did as a kid…
