The Most Important Essay

The world will ask you who you are, and if you don’t know, the world will tell you. - Carl Jung

You don’t need to be an expert at a topic to write an essay about it. The word Essay comes from the french verb essayer meaning to explore. Thus, an essay is an exploration of an idea. Since writing forces you to think clearly, writing an essay on a topic is a great way to learn about it.

So what’s the most important essay? It’s the one you write about yourself. Who are you? What do you want? What’s your story?

Writing an essay about yourself is an exploration of you. Socrates once said that to know thyself is the beginning of wisdom.” Knowing yourself in a world that tries everything it can to tell you who you are is challenging. But when you know yourself you become peaceful, independent, and a clearer decision maker.

Notes

[1] The first piece I’ve written on my site was my (now defunct) about page. It’s outdated and no longer representative of me but I keep it on my site as a reminder of who I was and what was important to me at the time.
