They Don’t Need to Know
I was watching this Short about a Soba Chef who makes noodles the traditional way. It’s tedious, strenuous, and time-consuming work that took him 15 years to master.
The host asks, “Do you think people understand how much work goes into every noodle?”
He responds, “They don’t need to know. They don’t need to know my work at all. Food is food. It doesn’t matter how hard it is.”
What a humble response.
Despite the amount of care he’s putting into his work, he’s not doing it for recognitions sake, but for its own sake.
