Two Tragedies

There’s only two tragedies in this world. Not getting what you want and getting what you want - Oscar Wilde

It’s clear why not getting what you want is tragic. Not getting what you want sucks. Maybe you worked hard to achieve this thing. Maybe it’s something you’ve wanted for years.

Counterintuitively, getting what you want is also tragic. This one is less obvious, but I’m sure it’s relatable. Think back to all your past failures, what if you got what you wanted instead?

If I got what I wanted, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Failure has been my best teacher. It’s a reality check. It humbles me, develops my character, and I learn from it. I wouldn’t trade these experiences for anything.
