Years of Experience Does Not Equal Skill Level
Many job descriptions have a minimum years of experience as a requirement. However, just because two candidates have the same years of experience doesn’t mean they have similar skill levels.
One of the reasons why I enjoy working at startups is the high pace and responsibility mean accelerated learning compared to an establish company. Generally speaking, someone that spent three years scaling a high growth startup likely is more skilled than someone that spent three years at an established company.
