Remaining Curious
Kids ask an average of 300 questions per day - a testament to their natural curiosity. We can all relate to this sense of curiosity, as it’s something we all experienced as kids.
The question then isn’t how one becomes curious, rather, how do we remain curious or reignite that curiosity within us?
Here are a few ideas:
- Curiosity is contagious. Be around curious people. One way to do this is to hang out with kids.
- Cultivate a beginner’s mind. Learn a new skill that’s unlike any of your existing skills. If you’re an engineer, learn how to freestyle rap. If you’re a rapper, learn physics. If you’re a physicist, learn about fashion.
- Remind yourself that everyone knows something you don’t.
- Travel somewhere where you don’t know the language.
- Read a lot.
- Make space for curiosity.
