Buying Cheap, Buying Quality

When you buy something cheap and bad, the best you’re going to feel about it is when you buy it. When you buy something expensive and good, the worst you’re going to feel about it is when you buy it. - Sasha Aickin

On my recent backpacking trip, I bought an Osprey Farpoint backpack. At almost 300$ this bag wasn’t cheap but it was one of the best travel backpacks on the market. I bought it with the intention of using it for years, maybe even decades.

My younger self would’ve optimized for buying the cheapest backpack possible. But over the years, I learned that you get what you pay for. Maybe the cheap backpack would be uncomfortable, or maybe it might break and I would have to buy a new one. Over time the higher quality item pays for itself.
